Clarence Clemons Featured in Lady Gaga's "Edge Of Glory" --Video

As Spinner previously reported, Clarence Clemons -- the legendary saxophone player from Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band -- died on Saturday (June 18) at age 69, from complications due to a stroke he suffered the previous Sunday (June 12). Immediately following his death, an outpouring of love, tributes and eulogies poured fourth from the music community. Springsteen himself was quick to release a statement, mourning the loss of his companion while, also, celebrating his life.

A few days before Clemons' actual death -- but after he suffered the severe stroke which eventually killed him -- pop superstar Lady Gaga released a video for her track 'The Edge of Glory,' featuring Clemons on saxophone. Clemons is seen in the video sitting on a stoop next to Gaga as he blows the instrument that, in rock 'n' roll circles, he became nearly synonymous with.

The video first premiered on Fox's television series 'So You Think You Can Dance?' on Thursday (June 16) and the ill-fated -- or else, perhaps, glorious -- timing has turned what would've been a hit video anyway into a true viral sensation. Among his many, many lifelong accomplishments, let it also be said the Clemons just got a nation of die-hard Springsteen fans to sit down and watch a complete Lady Gaga video. Way to go, Big Man.

Lady Gaga Arrives in Japan for Tsunami Charity gig

Tue Jun 21, 8:59 am ET
TOKYO (AFP) – Lady Gaga, dressed in green from head to toe, flew into Tokyo on Tuesday for a charity music event for the victims of the March 11 quake-tsunami disaster which devastated Japan's northeast.
Some 200 fans -- joined by a 50-strong media pack -- cheered her arrival at Narita airport, and the 25-year-old singer responded by raising her left hand with a wristband bearing the message "Pray for Japan" in Japanese and English.
Lady Gaga, ranked this year's most powerful celebrity by Forbes magazine, is due to attend the charity event, MTV Video Music Aid Japan, on Saturday at a convention hall in Chiba near Tokyo.
The American has so far donated $3 million for people in the disaster zones, including revenues from selling the wristband and personal contributions, Kyodo news agency reported.
